Positions available covering groups network coordination, marketing and fundraising, and campaigns and research (maternity cover)
Originally established in 1986 as the National Federation of Badger Groups, and evolving into Badger Trust in 2005, our charity works to promote and enhance the welfare, conservation and protection of badgers, their setts and their habitats in England and Wales (Scotland is covered by Scottish Badgers). We campaign across a number of areas at national level and are supported by, and support, a network of over 50 autonomous local badger groups on the ground.
We currently have three staff positions open for recruitment, and full details can be found on our CharityJob site. A headline overview is given below but full details can be found via the relevant link. All applications must be submitted via CharityJob as Badger Trust is using the ‘Anonymous Applicant’ option to remove any conscious or unconscious bias and help it strive to be an equal opportunity employer which strives for best practice across diversity and inclusion.
Badger Trust is based in Brighton, West Sussex and has a hybrid working policy with the week split across the office and home for both the Marketing & Fundraising Manager and the Campaigns & Research Manager. The Groups Coordinator is home-based and can be anywhere in England or Wales. If your circumstances do not fit this approach, but you feel you could be the best candidate for the job (with the right to work in the UK) please apply and clearly set out why you believe this is the case.
(18 month fixed term contract, with hope to extend dependant on funding)
Badger Trust has a network of over 50 local and volunteer-led groups on the ground, all of whom decide to be affiliated to the national charity as a means of helping badgers in the short, medium and long term. We aim to better support, develop and grow the network so that together we can achieve more in our mission to promote and enhance the welfare, conservation and protection of badgers, their setts, and their habitats.
The successful candidate will have solid experience of coordinating a group network, with significant volunteer management experience. They should be able to set up, manage and deliver a programme of meetings, training, communications and more to ensure our local groups are given every opportunity to engage with the national charity in our work to protect badgers, and likewise that we can recognise and act on opportunities to deliver for our member groups. Please see the ad, job description and person specification for full details. You can find this on the CharityJob website.
Permanent position
Badger Trust is a small charity with big campaigns and ambitions, all driven 100% by voluntary funding, and which need to pack a punch for this persecuted species. With the mass badger culls in England – our priority campaign – confirmed as running to 2025 at least, and with historic and ongoing illegal persecution among other major issues this iconic native species faces, there is much to do at this critical time. 2022 also marks the 30th anniversary of the Protection of Badgers Act, and a new and important campaign has been developed that will run throughout the year, all needing expert marketing and fundraising plans to help drive impact and income for the charity.
This role is currently split, with digital marketing, inc website management and social media outsourced to a small partner agency, and physical marketing and all fundraising handled in house in a different role. We are bringing all parts together in the Marketing and Fundraising Manager position, and at a crucial time of investment into the team in order to achieve a much greater impact for badgers. We need someone who can hit the ground running, with experience, enthusiasm and energy, and with a realistic approach to working for a small charity - where you often develop the plans and then also have to deliver all elements of them. Please see the ad, job description and person specification for full details. You can find this on the CharityJob website.
