Part of our month-long Brocktober campaign that celebrates nature as a happy place for many of us and our wildlife, we’re asking people to walk 7,000 steps a day – every day in October.

Whether you decide to walk, run or hop your way through the challenge, the Brock Bimble will get you to explore nature at your doorstep, learn how badgers are so integral to the makeup of our world, all while raising vital funds to protect this iconic animal.
Sign up, share your journey, and enjoy the benefits of nature knowing you're making a real difference. Every step counts for the badgers and together, we can make nature a safe, happy place for badgers and humans alike. Join Brock Bimble and help protect badgers.

Psst. If you want to take on more or less than the 7,000, steps you can adapt this goal to suit you. Set your own step goal on your JustGiving page and work towards that each day of October.

£250
Could help us campaign for the Government to end the horrific badger cull through parliament events like our Day of Action and lobby for tougher legislation.
£500
Could help us train groups to protect and rescue badgers in their local area as well as provide grants to rehabilitate injured badgers.
Brock Bimble FAQs
What is the Brock Bimble?
The Brock Bimble is a virtual step challenge where people commit to walk 7,000 steps a day throughout October. It’s free to sign up and take part is a challenge everyone can get involved in.

Simply sign up to take on Brock Bimble and help raise vital funds, get active and walk your way.
Does it have to be a walk?
Not at all. We want the challenge to be as inclusive as possible so feel free to walk, run, hop or wheel your way through the month.
Does it have to be 7,000 steps?
No. We’ve chosen this amount of steps a day as more can seem overwhelming in a busy life and this seemed more accessible. You can challenge yourself to less or more than 7,000 steps depending on your own lifestyle and physical ability.

If you’re a wheelchair user, you can track distance instead of steps. 7,000 steps is roughly 3.5 miles.

Is there a minimum fundraising target?
We're encouraging you to set a goal of raising at least £150, but feel free to aim higher to create an even greater impact for badgers and their habitats.
No matter your experience level, whether you're new to walking or an experienced walker, join us and do it your way. Consider:

-
Taking a daily morning stroll
-
Changing up your commute
-
Hitting the gym
-
Racking up steps around the house
Tackle the challenge solo or with a team, and easily track and share your progress through JustGiving's simple logging system. Watch as your steps add up and the donations pour in.
Why do badgers need saving?
Despite having one of the highest levels of legal protection, badgers have suffered a long history of cruelty and to this day, badgers are among the most persecuted species.

The Government-endorsed badger cull, beginning in 2013 to decrease the amount of bovine tuberculosis (bTB) in cattle, has killed over 230,000 badgers - estimated to be half the population - in England since it started, despite scientific evidence showing the cull is ‘ineffective’ and that better measures on cattle is the answer to controlling bTB.

Badgers are also victims of cruel wildlife crimes including baiting, shooting, and snaring as well as their setts and habitats being destroyed from the rise in property and development.
How do badgers benefit nature?
Badgers play a crucial role in making nature a happy place for us humans and in maintaining a balanced ecosystem. They help maintain healthy insect populations, disperse seeds, and aerate the soil through their digging activities. By protecting badgers, we ensure the health and diversity of our natural landscapes.
