Badger Trust and Wild Justice unite to send a pre-action protocol letter on the supplementary badger cull

Badger Trust and Wild Justice continue their fight to stop badger culling by jointly instructing solicitors to challenge the decision to grant cull licences.

Badger Trust and Wild Justice have united to send a pre-action protocol letter to Natural England and the Secretary of State for Defra to stop the supplementary badger cull.

The supplementary cull started on 1 June 2024 and will result in the deaths of thousands of badgers.  The purpose of this action is to stop the cull immediately after Natural England’s own scientific head’s advice not to cull badgers was ignored.

This action could lead to the two organisations calling for a full Judicial Review. Natural England has been given until 15 July 2024 to respond and halt the supplementary cull.

Peter Hambly, Executive Director of Badger Trust, said,

“We will continue to fight for badgers and stop this ineffective and unethical badger cull immediately.”

“Badgers continue to be killed, despite Natural England’s own scientific advice to stop the supplementary badger cull that started in June 2024.  More badger lives are being wasted, with Natural England’s scientific advisor saying the present cull is not the way forward.  The cull must end now.”

It’s time to end the killing.
