Rachel Bigsby is Badger Trust’s first Youth Ambassador

We are delighted to announce our first Youth Ambassador for Badger Trust, wildlife photographer and natural history broadcaster, Rachel Bigsby.
Rachel Bigsby has been an influential supporter of Badger Trust for some time. You may remember her from our recent Q&A series, and her video helping us celebrate National Badger Day. Or her amazing photographs that we use throughout our website and campaign documents, and the badger images donated to our 2022 and 2023 fundraising calendars.
You may have also seen some of Rachel’s incredible badger photography recently used to promote Wild Isles, a BBC series narrated by Sir David Attenborough.
Rachel is an inspiring youth advocate for our mission “to promote and enhance the welfare, conservation, and protection of badgers, their setts, and their habitats”.
Rachel’s genuine passion for badgers, along with her own fortitude and resilience in her career to date, make her a great Youth Ambassador for Badger Trust.
Rachel said:
"I feel so honoured to become a Badger Trust Youth Ambassador and a voice for badgers, which I have loved and worked closely with for several years. Their mysterious lives, family loyalties, eco-system engineering and beauty are often overlooked and misunderstood.
I will take immense pride in turning the tide on current misconceptions, advising how to responsibly photograph badgers, and helping a new generation of badger champions to fall in love with the species!"
Peter Hambly, Executive Director of Badger Trust, is delighted that Rachel accepted the invitation to join our clan:
“Rachel passionately shares our love of badgers and has worked with us for some time now in making that message more accessible for young people.
It has never been more important for young people to be involved and aware of how important badgers are to nature, and we know that with Rachel’s excellent story-telling skills on both sides of the camera, it was time we gave her official status as Youth Ambassador.”
